There are three common tools and methods for calibrating the centrifugal high head slurry pump. Here are the pros and cons of each method:
1.Straight Edge - This method requires the straight edge to be placed on the pump and motor coupling and then visually inspected to see if the parts are aligned.Fast and easy to implement scam very inaccurate. Today's high performance machines and expectations for turn-on time require more accurate measurements.
2.Reverse Dial Indicator - This method uses two indicators to check radial runout and angle. The reading is then inserted into the math formula to calculate the correct alignment of the gasket.
3. Laser Alignment - This method uses a laser to determine the relative axis position. Then the computer will make adjustment suggestions. The most accurate method available.Once familiar with it, the operator can quickly align the pump/motor.Cost - the most expensive method to date
At first, it was a bit complicated to set up.
